  • The Fort Cherry School District is a small, rural public institution located approx 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh City.  The District encompasses 58 square miles which include the municipalities of McDonald, Midway, Hickory, and the Townships of Robinson and Mount Pleasant.  The District campus is located on 70 square miles of majestic farm land with an amazing view of Pennsylvania's rolling hills.

    The Fort Cherry Campus is made up of two school buildings--Fort Cherry Elementary Center (Grades K-6) and Fort Cherry Junior Senior High School (Grades 7-12).  The District campus also includes a football stadium, multi-purpose practice field, tennis court, baseball/softball fields, two vocational agriculture greenhouses (hydroponics and aquaponics facilities), a breathtaking cross country trail.

    The Fort Cherry School District Board of School Directors conducted two Town Hall Meetings for Capital Projects related to Air Ventilation (Presentation of finances & timeline of projects to include possibility of adding cooling system to buildings are available below for viewing.)

  • Substitute Teachers Needed - Emergency Permits Available for Qualified Candidates
    The Fort Cherry School District is in need of Teacher Substitutes. If you currently hold a bachelor's degree in any area and are interested in becoming a substitute teacher, please contact Mrs. Lori Cowden at The following credentials are required: transcripts for bachelor's degree, letter of interest, resume, standard teaching application, all clearances, mandated reporter training, and confidentiality training. Both trainings are free and provided through the school district if needed. Please contact the school for additional information.
