Welcome to Second Grade in Room 204!  I am very happy to be your child's teacher whether (s)he will be in the physical classroom with me or behind a screen.  This year is sure to be different than what we are used to, but I will do my best to make it a positive experience for you and your child.  

Much of how I will be teaching your child is new to me, much like many of these changes are new to you, so I ask that you partner alongside me for the benefit of your child.  All that I do will be executed with care, love, and consideration for not only your child's education, but for his health and overall well-being as well.  I know we will make mistakes along the way, but as I point out to students regularly--this is a natural part of the learning process.  I hope that as each child gets to view me both as a teacher and learner this year, that he will recognize the value in taking calculated risks to obtain growth and acquire mastery.  I also hope that students quickly grasp that despite the separated desks, masks, and differences they will observe in the school that it is still a safe space for them to flourish.   I ask for your understanding and patience as we all venture into the unknown.  

I also would like to remind you that your child will be looking to you, his first teacher, for your opinions, reactions, and support about so much of what is going on around him.  Please be encouraging and optimistic as he will likely mimic and trust what you portray.  I know with all the uncertainties, constant changes, and stress it brings that the "good" might not be your initial thought or perception.  However, please keep in mind this is a year your child will likely remember for a lifetime.  Let's make those memories favorable ones!
