Welcome to the Fort Cherry Junior Senior High School
The Junior Senior High School (JSHS) houses grades 7-12. The Jr-Sr High School has a full complement of instructional rooms and areas to service the needs of students with special offerings in the areas of STEAM, Computer Applications, Digital Journalism, Sound Studio, Agricultural Science, and Fabrication Engineering. Students also have access to technologically integrated auditorium and physical fitness facilities. JSHS students may take advantage of a wide range of academic courses, including advanced placement courses in physics, biology, chemistry, English literature, Spanish, US History, psychology, statistics, and American government. Students can also enroll in the University of Pittsburgh College in High School Program’s Calculus and Statistics courses or Community College of Beaver County for Aviation Science.
Individual interest can lead student toward other elective offerings, such as sociology, advanced computer science, game design, digital animation, art, pop music, band, and a variety of agricultural science courses. Students may elect to take Spanish or German, with the opportunity to dual enroll in French, Latin, Japanese, and Mandarin Chinese as senior high electives.
The JSHS has pupil services which include learning support, emotional support, and gifted programming through on-site classrooms, always incorporating inclusion (least restrictive) to the fullest extent possible. Also the HS includes a life skills program including vocational education for grades 7-12.
The High School's technological capabilities have improved substantially over the past decade. Fort Cherry implemented a 1:1 initiative with chromebooks for all students grades 7-12. In addition, the HS features 3 high-tech labs for math, engineering, computer applications, and world language usage. All classrooms have promethean boards, projectors, and access to high speed WiFi.
The Fort Cherry Junior-Senior High School is a focal point for activities in the school district. Students may choose from a variety of extra- and co-curricular activities in which to participate. Students with an interest in sports may choose from baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling. Students may also choose from a number of clubs and student activities.
