Fort Cherry High School Prom Guidelines

Below are guidelines that will be enforced at the Fort Cherry Prom.

Please remember that school administration reserves the right to

deny admittance and/or remove students (and guests)

from the dance as it relates to the guidelines listed below, including but not limited to

disciplinary reasons, school attendance, age requirements, clearance forms or inappropriate attire.

    • The hours of the prom are 7:00-12:00 p.m. with the promenade beginning at 5:00 p.m. Students and guests will not be permitted to leave before 11:30 p.m. without a courtesy call being made home.

    • The prom is open to students from other districts and to former students, but there are restrictions to age requirements (see below). All non-district attendees will be required to undergo a clearance procedure.  Forms will be made available in the office.

    • At least one member of a couple must be a Fort Cherry student of junior or senior status. Students of a junior or senior status are permitted to take guests to the prom that range from a high school freshman through age 20.

    • Guests who turn 21 years old on or prior to the date of prom are not permitted to attend.

    • Guests in grades eight or lower at the time of prom are not permitted to attend.

    • Tickets will not be sold at the door; tickets must be purchased in advance by the specified deadline.

    • Students and guests must be dressed in appropriate formal attire.

    • To be eligible to attend prom, students must attend ½ of the school day (periods 1-4) on the day of the prom.

    • The District Discipline Code is in effect at all times.

    • It is permissible for males to remove their jackets, but not permitted to remove or unbutton their shirts below the first two buttons.

    • Dancing or behavior that is sexually suggestive is not permitted.

    • Any student/guest leaving the dance will not be permitted to re-enter.

    • If ticket sale quota is not met, prom may be cancelled and another event may be scheduled in its place.
