About Chief Buchowski

Chief Dave Buchowski

Chief Buchowski grew up in a rural area of Volant/New Wilmington, PA. He is a graduate of Wilmington Area High School (Class of 1977) and Westminster College (Class of 1981). He is the oldest child of 6 boys and 2 girls. Working on his family farm instilled a hard work ethic and has carried that throughout his life. He began his 30-year law enforcement career with the New Castle Police Dept. and in June 1985 he entered the Pa State Police Academy. In November 1985, he was assigned to PSP Findlay barracks in Allegheny County and spent 12 years working patrol on the parkways and interstates around Pittsburgh. He then transferred to PSP Butler and worked 3 years on patrol and 1 year there as a Vehicle Fraud Investigator. His last 9 years of his PSP career were spent in Beaver County in the same capacity as in Butler County. His 25-year PSP career ended in July 2010 when he retired from that agency. Prior to coming to FCSD, he spent a year as a Hospital Police Officer at St. Clair Hospital.

He has been married to Lori since 1993, and has one adult daughter, Angela. His wife, a retired RN, and his daughter, a Safety Associate, make the safety and security of others a family affair.

He serves as the Chairman of the Fort Cherry School District Safety Committee. The committee meets monthly to discuss any safety and security issues within the district and takes corrective measures if needed. He is also a member of the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO).
